This week...

If you are reading FICTION:

b) How does what the author did in his or her writing enhance or improve the story?

If you are reading NONFICTION:
a) How does the author organize the text to help you understand it? For example, does each paragraph have a main idea and supporting details? Are there heading and subheadings Does the author use any graphic sources?
b) How does this help you understand the story?

    4. David,
It sounds like the pictures in your book have captions to explain what is in the pictures. That is a good way for an author to help enhance our understanding.

  2. The author for "A Series Of Unfortunate Events" uses dialogue. He talks to you and tells you to not read the book because it has sad things that happen and unfortunate events. This enhance the story by making you want to read it even more than you want to.Kyle D.

  3. I'm reading as simple as it seems. The part i chose is when verbena interrogates her parents about her adopttion and why they lied. The conflict is between her mother and herself. I could understand better because it helpep me understand how she felt about the situation.

  5. A place in the story that has action, emotion is when Carter and Bast (the cat goddess) attacked Sobek (the god of alligators) to defeat Sobek. Carter used some of his powers to hurt him. Bast used some of her powers to hurt him as well. then when they defeated him Bast ended up dying. Carter started to cry. Bast's last words were " Carter I want you to tell Sadie(Carter's sister) I love her." Ian G.

    1. Wow! A place with action, emotion, and some emotional dialogue to really engage the reader! It sounds like your author really knows what he or she is doing!

  6. I am reading a book called captain underpants. The author uses emotion when George, one of the main characters does not want to wear a tie to school and he is sad. The author says 'And George was very sad that his mother made him wear the tie to school, and he was afraid was afraid of the bullies'.

    1. James, Captain Underpants sounds like a book where there might be some action. Can you find a place where the author includes action in the story and post here about it?

  7. I'm reading a book called Gracefully Yours Its emotional in the beginning because a girl named Hattie's mom, dad, and brother died in a fire and poor Hattie was the only survivor. It was emotional because she had no friends and now no family so she had to live in an orphanage. How the author enhances (improves) the story is when she made Hattie feel so sad and have no more family and now she is going to live a new life and people might want to know how her new life would turn out so they would want to read on.

  8. I'm reading the warriors series it's about the cats i'm on the 4th book i'm going to start answering the questions now :D

A). Erin Hunter would go in and explain what had happened for example: fear shot threw Ravenpaw's eyes,Fireheart remembered how Ravenpaw feared Tigerclaw, after he (Tigerclaw) killed Redtail (the Thunderclan Deputy) and tried to kill Ravenpaw but before he could do it Fireheart and Graystripe stop him.

B). If you didn't read the first book (like me) would explained it i i understand it better then.
