Welcome to the 5M Reading Log Blog!

Welcome to the 5M Reading Log Blog! This is a fun and interactive way for us to log our reading for the remainder of the year. Instead of turning in the regular reading log on Fridays, you can comment on the weekly topic and respond to one of your classmates' posts. Here's how to participate:

  • go to: 5mharvard.blogspot.com
  • Read the post made by Mrs. McGonigle that tells you the topic for the week.
  • At the end of Mrs. McGonigle's post you will see a place that says, "comments." Click on that.
  • In the comment box, type your response to the topic for the week.

    One of my favorite books is Charlotte's Web by E.B. White. One of the reasons I enjoy the book so much is because I love the main characters. Wilbur the pig is sweet and innocent and Charlotte the spider is caring and wise. I really like how the author develops their strong friendship throughout the story. I also like all of the lessons that can be learned by reading Charlotte's Web. It teaches many life lessons and is also a very entertaining book! It makes me feel all kinds of emotions every time I read it, and I have read it many times.

      Mrs.McGonigle,I have seen the movie but i never read it before i thought before that books where not better than the movie but after i read the Hunger Games my opinion completely change so i have to read it sometime

    One of my favorite books is Lemonade War.This book is my favorite because it was very entertaining.The book had a contest so it kept me wondering the whole time.I was very curious,I wanted to know who will win the lemonade stand contest.During the story i had so many thoughts of who was winning and at the end was a surprise and I noticed I was enjoying the book very much.

      Steven -Its about a boy and a girl (siblings) that did a lemonade stand contest to see who would earn more money because the brother didn't want to do a stand with his sister.So they did a contest!

    One of my favorite books is captain underpants.This is one of my favorite books because its always a funny problem.Also because I never get bored when reading the books.and finally because they never have the same thing going on in the books.

      ms mcgonigle, some of the funny parts are like when the two main characters when they snap there fingures there priniple turns into a super hero with only underpants and a cape on.Also alot of the names have funny words in them

    One of my favorite books is Sound Bender. The books about this boy and his little brother actually both there perants died in a plain crash and they go to live with there rich uncle and there father wrote the oldest son a letter before he dided for his fifteenth birthday. Theres also a videoabout what he can do. The oldest boy soon descovers that he can sense and hear walls, people talking from thousends of miles away. And a scream of shout a mile away. So far dont you get now why its called sound bender. Its also a very fasenating story. So any way thats why i like the book Sound Bender. also thanks for reading. :) Brianna.S :)

    one of my favorite books is confection-ally yours by Lisa Papadematiou.She is a writer who tells her life in a series. I can feel her challenges through the story.Every chapter is like a new story. She made her story realistic and challenges the reader to put the book down but you can not.She relates to someone's feelings and never leaves you hanging

    One of my favorite books is the Hunger Games.The reason why it is one of my favorites is simple because it's entertaining and it keeps me entertained isn't supposed to be entertaining then? And when it comes to a part when it becomes a bit boring but the writer comes in and makes it entertaining again :D.

      I have not read this series but many people I know enjoy them. The author sounds very skillful if she is able to bring you back into being interested in the story over and over!

      Hi everyone! I got hooked in the Hunger Games series two when it first came out. It is a little scary though. I was surprised I enjoyed it so much because it is a fantasy story, which usually is not my genre of choice, but there are a few big "themes" about loyalty, courage, and perseverance which is why I think I liked them so much.

      Steven,the hunger games is not about a war, that is later on in the series .So no, it is not about a war it is all because of the capital,the capital owns the districts but makes sure that the people in the districts know who is in charge so they have the hunger games.Picking one boy and one girl to go into the arena and fight until only one person is left...Now i have a question for you if you where chosen to be in the hunger games what would you do? anyone can reply to that -Morgan M.

    One of my my main book I read is Diary Of A Wimpy Kid. One of my reason is Greg, Greg is the main guy in the book and funny and creative. His best friend is Rowly. Rowly is Greg best friend but, sometimes they get into fights and then they get new best friend in the school. I read the book so mant times and it always make me laugh and smile.

    One of my favorite books is Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney. Its one of my favorite books because it is very funny. It is also very funny. Its also interesting (the plot and setting and characters.) Greg is not that that good at anything that's what it makes it so entertaining cause' everybody likes seeing people mess up. And I like how it just keeps going on and on with the series. (The book series)

    One of my favorite books is Lemonade War by Jacqueline Davies. One of the reasons i like the book so much is because the two brothers and sisters get along so well until thelly great and brother gets told the sister is skipping a couple grades and going to his class that grabbed my attention because i thought, "Why?" The book is very good because both are really competitive, wich makes the competition more intense! The book is obviously about a lemonade stand competition and because its a competition i was curious till the very end of the story!

      Great post, Coryne! I enjoyed that book as well. Talk about sibling rivalry! Did you have a favorite part? I remember that part you mentioned, when they found out the younger sister was skipping a grade. Her brother was furious!

    i love diary whimpy kid the cabin fever ,it was the best because it had alot of diolauge witch makes evreything more intersting to make the characters talk together its like your actually in the story.the poeple in the book are so funny evrey time i read it ,it makes me laugh.[thats why ive read more than once]by steven nogueira

    My favorite book is Super Diaper Baby 2, because it is very funny tome.And it doesn't board me like other books.But my favorite part is the comics.I like that it is fiction, so the animals can talk.Plus it is always has a problem.-Joshua D

    One of my favorite books is The Panda Puzzle from the A to Z mysteries by Ron Roy. It was about a baby panda going missing. I liked it because it created suspense for me. There were times when I was reading it, i was scared and there were times when i was happy and excited. When Ruth Rose, Dink and Josh go to ask questions to the people who are the suspects. They end up thinking that the three suspects all did it. This part of the book scared me. Thank you, Celine Belanger.

    My favorite book is Out of my mind.It's about a girl who can't walk,talk,or write.Her mom,dad,teachers,and doctors think she is unable to learn but really she's like the smartest kid in her school just nobody knows it yet.

      I just bought this book at the book fair and it's the next book on my list to read. My aunt, who is a children's librarian, told me it was one of her top ten books to read and now hearing your recommendation I'll have to start reading it soon!!!

    One of my favorite book is The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordian.What I like about the book is all of the humor in the book just makes me want to laugh out loud. The book is hard to follow at times though. The book keeps taking away characters and adding characters like crazy! So far the book has taken away 5 characters. The book has also added about 7 or 8 different characters. Ian Grajales

      Mrs.McGonigle one of my favorite parts of the book is how Carter and Sadie (siblings) get mad at each other and blow up a cake. How? You ask? Well, they have special powers and don't know it then.

    One of my favorite books is the Amigas series by Jenifer Lopez.This book also teaches life lessons about friends and family.I like this book, because it teaches you about what real friends are like. And these 5 friends plan sweet 15 parties together.But when it comes to one of their best friends party it's a mess! But they solve it
    together.

    I like the book,Flat Stanly by Jeff Brown because at the middle of the night a bourd falls on stanley and makes him turn flat.Throughout the story, Stanly can do alot of things that no other person can do like be a kite ,slip under doors ,and in the story some girl from his school is stuck under a burned down building and its very dark.Stanly goes to the fire and he goes under and over the cracks to get to her with a flashlight and food and drinks for her to eat.He finds his way out and he saves the girl.In the second book of Stanly getting flat is that Stanley catches thieves at a muasoum by being a picture on a wall and scares them out into there secret hiding place which he saw and told the police.I really enjoyed those books and im looking forword to seeing more Jeff Brown books. -David Moniz :)

    One of my books is the hunger games.One reason its my faverot books is becouse i like all the action.Also liked when the 2 main carictors wheren really friends in the beginning. But as they trined together they became really good friends and wouldn't go on without each other. Reading this book made me want to read more books.And from all the details it made me fell like i got sucked in to the story-from EmmaT

    my favorite book is the Ninth Ward. Its my favorite because of how the character are bonding together and how they help each orther to survive the hurrican and also help survive the flood after the hurrican.The grandma is one of the big help, she helped them by when the grandma can tell the future, can see what happen next after another,and also see ghost. And the main character can also see ghost can talk to ghost and the dog can see the ghost too.

    my favorite book is Winn Dixie the book is about a girl that finds a friend that is a dog she names the dog Winn Dixie and some parts of the book is good and funny and and she meets more friend.

When opal went to the store named Winn Dixie .So when opal said Winn Dixie.So when the manager said call the pound opal said that's my dog but when a thunder storm comes Winn Dixie is afriad of thunder , he's friendly when opal help's Otis at gradtudes pets to earn the leash. the preacher,Otis,sweetie pie tomas ,and miss Frany went to the party.     One of my favorite book is Wereworld:Rise of the wolf.Its an action packed thriller with many twist .But the real question is who will take the throne,Drew the werewolf or the evil prince Lucas the werelion. But in the first 100 pages he's just a normal farm boy.But that changes after his mother was savagely killed in cold blood by a wererat .

    One of my other favorite books is "my (dino) ate my homework ''i read that when i was really little in second grade for that summer reading thing that we had to do for homework.It was my favorite story because the chidren would tell there teacher my dino ate my homework the teacher thought they were lying but ther really was a dino eating there homework.the teacher said oh its just one of those ecsusses "trust me i was a kid once i was saying my dog ate my homework in stead of saying my dino ate my homework,that is the worst escuse ive ever heared' she said as she pointing her finger at them.thats the part that always makes me laugh. -Steven N.

    The NONFITION book that I'm reading is named YEAR IN SPORTS 2013.I enjoy this book a lot because it talks about my favorite sport (soccer).I found a lot of interesting facts about soccer.One of the facts is that C.RONALDO is one of the best goal scoring champs of all time.This fact is interesting to me because i am a RONALDO fan for years already.The second interesting fact that i found is MESSI is one of the greatest team players of all time,what that means is he knows how to work with his team he makes evrey player on their look like a bunch of all-stars.Im inerested in this fact because i want to be a soccer player just like him.These are the interesting facts i found in the book.-STEVEN NOGUEIRA
